海斯法典：美国历史上限制影片表现内容的审查性法规。由全美电影制片和发行人协会主席W.海斯与耶稣会教士D.洛德等人起草制订，1930年3 月31日公布。主要内容有：遵守禁酒令，不得宣扬烧酒；不可详细描述谋杀、盗窃、抢劫的方法；不得出现拷打场面；不得表现不道德的性关系；不得表现黑人与白人的两性关系；不准出现堕胎或分娩的镜头；不准出现裸体镜头；不准出现男女唇间接吻；不许对国旗不敬；不许出现粗暴对待动物的场面；等等。海斯法典一公布，即遭到电影创作人员的普遍反对，而且马上出现了许多违反规定的影片。随着时间的消逝，海斯法典很快失去了意义。1966年被正式取消。
